EFR - Emergency First Responder Course

As one of the foremost international CPR and first aid training companies, Emergency First Response™ gives you the confidence and know how to respond to medical emergencies – not just in the diving world, but in your everyday life with your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers too.

The course begins by covering the definitions of emergency care and moves through the “chain of survival” and onto “the cycle of care”. You then begin to look at good samaritan laws and the emotional aspects of being an emergency first responder and the procedures of emergency care. Once this knowledge development portion of the course has been completed you will then move onto skill development.

There are 6 skills that you cover during your EFR practical skill development:

• Scene assessment
• Primary assessment
• CPR – chest compressions
• CPR – chest compressions combined with rescue breaths
• CPR and AED use
• Choking

Once this has been completed to a satisfactory standard you will then move onto secondary care. Again, this portion of the course covers the theory of each of the skills and then you move onto the practical skill development. The skills included are:

• Injury assessment
• Illness assessment
• Bandaging
• Splinting

Once this has all been completed there is a multiple choice exam at the end made up of 45 questions. The course requires 4 – 6 hours to be completed. There are no prerequisites for this course.
