The crew on the boat is really nice, providing with professional diving service and delicious food.
We spent 4 nights and 5 days on the Manta Queen 3. It’s a spacious boat that holds 28 comfortably. There were about 4 divers per dive leader, and the attention was individualized to meet our needs. I’m an older experienced diver, and our instructor Lud was so aware of what I needed with gear help and staying sheltered from current; I felt so safe and happy. Groups were picked to match air consumption, so almost no one ever had to end a dive early. You really must get your AOW cert or at least Deep Water for this trip, and completing my AOW with Lud was fun and fulfilling. Cruise director Joe is a great leader, keeping the dive staff trained on safety, and on-point with customer needs, but also injecting a lot of humor and camaraderie. I hope to be back.
My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights on the manta queen 3. We completed our advanced and Nitrox certificates on the trip. The staff, Instructors and Joe the director of the trip were all amazing. They were helpful, patient and great company as well. The food was great and plentiful. The rooms were small and very simple but we came on this trip to go diving not for the accommodation. We had a lot of fun on the boat and underwater. The marine life in the Similan marine park is incredible and we were lucky enough to even see a giant manta ray. We loved this experience and plan to do it again. We definitely recommend it for anyone interested in scuba diving.
Joe on the Manta Queen 3 was fantastic. Normally dive boats are hectic and disorganized, but Joe’s boat was fantastic. All the divers knew exactly what to do and at what time. He made the process smooth and enjoyable.
If all the Manta Queen boats operate like the MQ3, then the entire operation is outstanding. The HQ in Khao Lak is also well organized, well maintained, and well staffed. Everyone was great.
Now to the food. The food on the MQ3 was the best we had on our entire multi city trip through Thailand. This is not just Thai cafeteria food. It’s interesting and flavorful dishes, and lots of it. They also had a great assortment of snacks available all day long. Amazing cooking staff.
Also note that (November 2019) all the reefs we saw appeared very healthy. Our guide Mikki was fantastic. She kept everyone safe and entertained. Would certainly dive again.
I recently did two four day trips on the Manta Queen 3. The entire experience was amazing. I have done over 300 dives and the dive center in Khao Lak was the best I have ever seen. The facilities on the boat were comfortable and clean. The diving was fantastic. The cruise director, Joe Brooks, did an outstanding job. His briefings were detailed and thorough and showed his impressive knowledge and experience with each of the sites. They kept the groups small to make sure the divers got the best experience possible. All the dive instructors were welcoming which made for a friendly environment. The food was outstanding and it was offered after every dive. The Thai staff on the boat were kind and incredibly hard working. The Thai team helped with your equipment and getting in and out of the water. The Manta Queen 3 has 15 dives scheduled on your four day trip. If you are not Nitrox certified I would highly recommend doing that on the boat. Diving with Nitrox not only extends allowable bottom time but it also reduces your overall nitrogen load on multiple dives. In addition to Nitrox other classes are offered like Advanced Open Water. The trip was truly amazing.
